Hilary Herb's American Blog - March 22nd

Well here we are in St Mary's, Georgia, safely installed in the Big Wheel RV park, just down the road from a big US submarine base - which not surprisingly doesn't figure on the sat nav!  This is our second day on the road since we picked up the trailer from the RV outlet in Ringgold, South Virginia, where John, Larry, and JB, made sure that our fifth-wheel ‘toy hauler' was in perfect working order. The ‘talk round' took a while as there was so much to explain about all the facilities on board and I know it will be some time while before we fully understand our new ‘toy' but it will be lots of fun getting to know it.  Spent the first night at Paradise Lake camp ground, in Keeling South Virginia, just 20 miles from Ringgold, just to make sure we tested everything and were still within shouting distance of the guys at RV Outlet!  Tony did a great job of getting into the site, gaining praise from the owner for his driving skills and the nice ‘rig'.

What is this on the bonnet of the truck??
(yes, its a moth, but which moth!!)

We drove down into the Carolinas through cotton fields which were flanked by these beautiful trees covered in soft white blossom, We tried, without any luck, to find out the name of the trees, so if any of our US website visitors can help us out that would be great!

What are these trees??

The second night was spent at Dillon, South Carolina, at the Big Bass Lake RV park, which turned out to be run by a couple of Brits from just north of Birmingham. Guy and his wife, (sorry I can't remember her name!) and their dog Henry, made us really welcome and we plan to stay there again on the way back from Orlando, after the Global Pet Show.

I have just cooked a quick mushroom omelette, with tomato and onion salad, for dinner (oh how I miss those Downclose free range organic eggs from our happy hens! Hoping to get to Whole Foods, in Orlando, to stock up with nice food for our stay.

A woman's work is never done!

Rustled up a chilli ready for dinner tomorrow night, when we will be parked in the car park at the Orlando Orange County Convention Centre, ready to load in and start setting up the stand on Tuesday.

Loving every minute of this trip so far.

Hilary & Tony
